This is a large and beautiful parcel fronting on Watt Abbitt Road. This parcel has many nice features such as state road frontage, great shape, creek frontage on David Creek and power is already on site. The parcel runs several thousand feet from the main roadway offering incredible privacy for its owners. It’s currently all wooded and there is some potential timber value if the new owners wanted to recoop some of their investment. Great convenience with this parcel being located right off route 60 which is one of the main roadways running through Appomattox County. Even better less than 10 minutes away and you can enjoy the water at the James River. Imagine relaxing days with family and friends fishing and floating the river on a nice summer days. Property is Located 7 minutes to Gladstone & the James River, 17 Minutes from the town of Appomattox, and only 45 minutes to the town of Farmville.

Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest – within this 19,535-acre forest, the largest in the state, there are two lakes, Holliday Lake, located at Holliday Lake State Park, and Slate River Watershed Lake. Holliday Lake is a clear lake with largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, and chain pickerel. The cold, relatively deep waters even hold a population of stocked northern pike. The Holliday Creek Trout Fishing Area is located at the headwaters of the lake and is a delayed harvest stream stocked with brown and rainbow trout. The Holliday Creek Fishing Trail, a 2 mile round trip, is an easy walking trail through glades along the creek. No outboard gas motors are allowed on the lakes. Hunting is allowed in all but select areas with abundant deer and turkey.

One of the newest Appomattox attractions is geo-caching. The Virginia Department of Forestry has a geocache on the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest, along the Covington Forest Road. The title of the cache is Farming, Forestry, and Bygone Days, and it is considered a multiple or series geocache. Finding the first cache will lead you to the next, until you reach the traditional item exchange cache at the end. Along the way, you will learn about the history of land use in the area, from pages you will find in the caches!

The James River State Park is one of Virginia’s newest parks, located just minutes from Appomattox at the junction of the Tye and James Rivers. Three miles of river front and two boat ramps offer access to the James river in this 1,442-acre park. Beautiful scenic location to boat, canoe, fish, hike, camp and more. Currently there are three main loop trails, five miles in length. All trails are wide and range from easy to moderate. Enjoy camping and fishing along the banks of the beautiful James River. There are 25 primitive campsites, 31 campsites with water and electricity, and 18 cabins with showers and restrooms. Equestrians will find five hillside sites for horse camping only, including enclosed and open stalls.

One highlight of Appomattox attractions is the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park marking the site of the original village of Appomattox Courthouse. Here, Generals Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant negotiated the terms of surrender which led to the end of the war between the states. The majority of the buildings are original to the site, and have been maintained just as they were on April 9, 1865. Come walk the same dusty roads once walked by Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant, experience Civil War History at its best and come experience Appomattox, where their nation reunited.

Testimonials

J.T. at Rural Land Tracts is awesome to deal with. We bought property from him several times and continue to use his services.

John S. Arc Engineering

I purchased a 40 Acre tract from JT with Rural Land Tract’s in 2012. I purchased it with the intent of using it for recreation with friends and family and possibly a home site for the future. I can’t put to words the enjoyment my family and friends have gotten out of this tract of land not to mention what a solid investment it will be for our future. Since that first purchase in 2012, my business partner and I have purchased 4 more tracts of land from JT. I highly recommend doing business with JT and Rural Land Tracts. JT is a pleasure to work with and is a man of morals and integrity. To put it quite simply, JT does what he says he is going to do when he says he is going to do it.
